2015 GWVBC Coaches
This is Jasonâ€™s 12th season as the Club Director of Golden West Volleyball Club and 13th year as a coach at the club. In a 17-year career Jason has coached at the College, High School and Club volleyball levels. He is currently in his tenth season as a coach for the Womenâ€™s Volleyball Team at Fullerton College and 3rd as the Head Coach. Prior to Fullerton, Jason spent a year and a half as an Assistant Womenâ€™s Volleyball Coach at the University of California Riverside. The rest of his coaching experience came from both High Schools and various clubs. Most notably would be 6 years at Esperanza (his alma mater) and 1 at Mater Dei (won CIF and 2nd in State) as well as clubs like Santa Monica Beach, The LBC, and Golden West Volleyball Clubs. Jason has been a part of teams that have won 3 CIF Championships, 4 State Finals teams as well as working camps at the University of Rhode Island, UC Riverside and Stanford University.
Erika is currently in her 8th season as the 1st Assistant for the Cal State Long Beach Womenâ€™s Volleyball Program. In 2014, Erika was honored by the AVCA as a member of the best "Thirty Under 30" coaches in the county. Prior to this honor Erika helped guide the 49ers to a team victory at the 2013 Sand National Championship. As a player at CSULB Erika was selected 1st Team All Big West, three times, while completing her Degree in Sociology. After graduating from LB State she was the Graduate Assistant at Univ. of La Verne where she earned her Masters Degree in Business. Her final season at La Verne her team was the runner-up for the Division III National Championship. She has been a coach at Goldenwest for 11 seasons.
Daniel brings 11 years of coaching experience and has been involved in the sport for the past 14 years. This will be his 8th season at Goldenwest VBC, and his first as our 18 Black Coach. Outside of coaching at GW Daniel began his coaching career at Villa Park High School, Ripcurls / Riptides VBC, Cal State Fullerton Menâ€™s and Womenâ€™s Club teams, and youth clinics. In 2017 Daniel will enter his 6th season as Head Varsity Coach for the Yorba Linda HS Boyâ€™s Volleyball Team, as well as directing his new Boys Club Pulse Athletics! Daniel has won 7 league titles at Yorba Linda High School between the boys and girls. He was also nominated as assistant coach of the year for Vanguard University in 2014. He is certainly one of the hardest working and passionate coaches in the sport today!
Coach Wadley enters his 21st year at Lakewood High School and 13th overall as its head coach. This will be Mikeâ€™s 6th season as a head coach at Goldenwest Volleyball Club. Over the last 13 years he has had 21 All-CIF, 11 All-Americans and 5 Fab-Fifty players suite up in a Lancer uniform. He has sent 27 student/athletes to schools such as: UCLA, Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, Pepperdine, UNLV, University of Miami, University of Illinois, University of Great Falls, Wyoming, Utah, Missouri State, Coppin State and CSUDH respectively. This will be Mikeâ€™s 3rd season as our 17 Asics Coach and has been to USA Nationals every year since taking over the team. Last season our 17 Asics team finished 9th in the region amongst 17â€™s teams.
Lily has been an assistant in the club for the past 4 seasons. This will be her third consecutive season assisting the 17 Asics Team, and first as the Head Coach of the13 Asics team. She has been a coach at Yorba Linda High School for the past 5 seasons for both the boys and girls programs. Lily was recently hired as an Assistant Coach at Santiago Canyon College for the inaugural season of their Womenâ€™s Volleyball Program. Lily had a standout career at UC Santa Barbara as a 4-year starter for legendary coach Kathy Gregory from 2008-2011. She was selected to the All Freshman Team in the Big West Conference in 2008. Lily is a wonderful role model and coach for the players at Goldenwest and we look for her to continue doing great things in the sport of volleyball this season and in the future!
This will be Liz's 7th year coaching at Goldenwest and 3rd year as a head coach. Liz was hired last Fall to be the Beach Volleyball assistant coach at Riverside Community College and is now entering her first season as an indoor assistant as well. She played at GW for 4 years before playing college volleyball at Concordia University Irvine. While there she was a part of the 2009 3rd place team, 2011 runner up, 2012 national champion, and 2013 3rd place team in the NAIA. Liz also has her AA rating on the beach and continues to compete every summer.
This will be Isaacâ€™s 22nd year coaching the top level club teams and his 4th straight season heading up our 16 Asics Team. Isaac has coached at Esperanza High School for the last 17 years. In 2014 he finished his 14th (and final year) leading the Esperanza boys to their fourth C.I.F Championship. He has coached the girls team at Esperanza for the past 11 seasons. The teams have won a total of 6 CIF Championships at EHS two with the girls 2004 and 2006. His boysâ€™ team two seasons ago won the first Sate Volleyball Championship in School History. Isaac is one of the original coaches and club directors at Goldenwest VBC. He has been CIF & OC Register Coach of the Year 2002, 2007, 2013, and 2014. OC Register Coach of the Year, while coaching OC All Star Game Coach in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Isaac has coached over 142 club girls who have gone on to play college volleyball. Two of his former club players have become college coaches.
This is Libby 7th season as a coach at Goldenwest VBC after playing her club volleyball for us since she was 15. She has assisted in the 16â€™s and 18â€™s division as well as head coaching in our 15â€™s Division. This will also be her first season as an Assistant Coach at Fullerton College. She played her college volleyball for Cal State Long Beach where she helped to win a Sand Volleyball National Team Championship in 2013. Libby also works the Long Beach State summer camp each summer and has become a very good coach. She will bring her joyful enthusiasm and volleyball knowledge to the 12 & 16 Asics Teams!
Assistant Club Director / Head Coach 14 Asics / Head Coach 16 Black - Doug Kawa
Doug is entering his 8th year coaching at Golden West Volleyball Club. Doug has coached teams in the 13's, 14's, 16's, 17's and 18â€™s age divisions and has over 10 years of coaching experience at the College, High School, and Club levels. Doug was hired to be the Head Coach at Santiago Canyon College last Spring after spending 3 seasons as a full time Assistant Coach for Fullerton College. Prior to that he spent 4 seasons as varsity head coach at Sunny Hills High School.
Head Coach 16 Brooke - Brooke Raynor
Brooke Raynor has been in the world of volleyball for over ten years. She won a gold medal at the Junior Olympic Invitational in 2005 and was the starting Libero for Jason Dillard at Fullerton College for two years. Both years the team went to State Championships. Brooke graduated with honors in 2013 from Cal State University Fullerton with a Masters in Professional Communications. She has been a Goldenwest coach for six years and has coached 12â€™s - 16â€™s in that time. Her coaching style is well rounded and energetic. Sheâ€™s a coach who has a deep love of the game and focuses on teaching her girls the fundamentals as well as teamwork. We are so fortunate to have her back again this season.
Dave is in his 11th season coaching at Golden West Volleyball Club and will be coaching our 15 Asics team again this season. He is in his 10th season as the Head Coach of the Girls Volleyball Program at Los Alamitos High School where his teams have been in 3 CIF finals, winning the 1AA championship in 2011 and 2013. Dave also works as a teacher at the school. Dave has led our 15 Asics teams to bids to Junior Nationals in 6 out of the last 7 seasons! Dave is a former Div. 1 college player at Long Beach State University where he was an outside hitter and we are pleased to have his experience back on staff.
Jaclyn is in her 8th season as the Head of the Girls Volleyball Program at Yorba Linda High School, after serving as Esperanza's girl's JV coach and Varsity Assistant since she graduated from EHS in 2002. She has had 3 league champions and in those seasons her teams have made a great runs deep into the playoffs of CIF! In 2014 YLHS was ranked as a top team in OC and are currently looking to make another CIF run this season. This will be her 12th season coaching at Golden West Volleyball Club where she has coached everything from the 15â€™s - 18â€™s age divisions. Jaclyn graduated from Long Beach State with a degree in math as well as her single subject teaching credential and recently graduated from Concordia University in Irvine with a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration. In addition to coaching she is also a Match teacher at Yorba Linda High School.
Head Coach 15 Adam - Adam Wadley
This will be Adamâ€™s 4th season in the club and first as a Head Coach. Since graduating from Lakewood High School he has played two years of College Volleyball, become the Head Coach of Lakewood Girls Volleyball JV Team and is an Assistant Coach at the State Champion Long Beach Community College Menâ€™s Program. Adam has come a long way in a short period of time as a coach and he will do a great job in our 15â€™s division this season!
Head Coach 15 Jenelle - Jenelle Hudson
This will be Jenelleâ€™s 2nd season with Goldenwest VBC and her first as a Head Coach. She is currently in her first Season at Long Beach State as their volunteer indoor assistant. She begins this position after a career at Long Beach State that saw her become the MVP of the Conference in 2014 and All Conference again her senior season in 2015. As a setter at Long Beach she displayed the kind of leadership ability that she will bring to the 15â€™s Age Division!
Recruiting Coordinator - Kara Hill
Kara is the founder of MRS, a college recruiting resource for student athletes who want to play volleyball at the collegiate level. My mission is to empower student athletes to realize their dreams to play at the next level, receive a college education and accomplish their goals. Kara developed the slogan Recruiting Done Differently, due to my commitment to do everything better and more efficient in every aspect of this process.
Kara offers intensive workshops on the college recruiting process throughout high school programs, and volleyball clubs in the United States and Canada. Club volleyball is a huge investment for families, as is a college education. Karaâ€™s philosophy is to educate families on the process and protect their investment. She offers workshops on the following topics: Introduction to College Recruiting, How to Follow Up, Choosing the Right Summer Camps, Preparing for Unofficial and Official Visits, and Making a Decision.
